Home / How It Works

No mystery,
no runaround.

Here is exactly what happens between your first message and the day we hand the space back to you.

Seven steps, in order

The process

You get in touch

Call or text Dom, or send the quote form. Photos of the space and one honest sentence about what is wrong with it beat a paragraph of description every time. Erika answers — usually the same day, always within one business day.

Quick phone conversation

Ten minutes to understand scope, rough budget range, and timing. This is where we tell you if we are not the right fit, before anybody wastes an afternoon.

Site visit or measurements

For renovation and exterior work, Dom walks the space, measures, and looks at the things that decide the price — access, framing, existing conditions, and what is behind the wall. For shop pieces and gifts, photos and dimensions are usually enough.

Written quote

You get a line-itemed quote covering scope, materials, permits, and what is explicitly not included. Options get priced separately so you can see what each upgrade actually costs. Nothing verbal, nothing vague.

Schedule and deposit

Once you approve, Erika books firm dates and collects a deposit against materials. You get the start date, the expected duration, and a materials list. Long-lead items get ordered immediately so they are not the thing that stalls the job.

We build

Floors and pathways protected, dust contained, tools out of your way at the end of every day. Dom is on site. Progress photos come to you as the work goes — you will never wonder what happened this week. Changes get written down and priced before they happen, not discovered on the final invoice.

Walkthrough and close-out

We walk the finished work together and build a punch list if there is one. We finish the punch list. Then the final invoice goes out — matching the quote you approved, plus any change orders you already signed off on.

How the money works.

Estimates

Free and written

No charge, no obligation, no pressure follow-up calls. If the number does not work for you, tell us and we will look at what to cut.

Deposit

Covers materials

A deposit at booking secures your dates and buys materials. Larger jobs draw at agreed milestones rather than one big payment at the end.

Changes

Priced before, not after

Scope changes mid-job are normal. What is not normal is finding out what they cost on the final bill. Every change gets a number first.

Not just from us — from anyone you hire. We send ours before work starts. A contractor who gets uncomfortable with that question is answering it.
Straight answers

What we ask of you

  • Tell us your real budget range. It changes what we recommend, and we would rather design to it than quote past it.
  • Decide on finishes and fixtures before we start where possible. Mid-job selections are the number one cause of delay.
  • Point out anything you are unhappy with while we are still there. Small fixes are easy on day nine and awkward on day ninety.
  • Let us know about pets, work-from-home schedules, and nap times. We will work around them if we know.
