Two people.
One standard.
LaRosa Woodworks is Dom and Erika. Dom builds it. Erika runs it. Nothing gets handed off to a stranger in the middle.
Domenic LaRosa
Domenic — Dom to everyone who works with him — is the carpenter. Every cut, every fit, every finished edge on a LaRosa Woodworks job goes through his hands.
He came up the way most good carpenters do — on job sites, under people who did not hand out compliments. Framing first, then finish work, then the trades that surround it: tile, cabinetry, decking, doors, and the hundred small problems an old house invents when you open a wall.
What separates him is not a specialty. It is range. He can gut a basement to the studs and hang the trim two weeks later, then spend a Saturday in the shop gluing up a butcher block for a family that has been talking about it for a year. Renovation carpentry and fine woodworking are usually two different people. Dom does both, and the shop work makes the renovation work better — you notice it in the reveals, the miters, and the places most people never look.
He is direct about what a project actually needs. If a plan will not work, he says so before you spend money on it. If there is a cheaper way to get you 95% of the result, you will hear about that too. And he is clear about where carpentry stops: if a job needs an electrician or a plumber, he will tell you so up front and help you plan around them rather than quietly taking on work that is not his trade.
The sign on the truck says Building Beautiful. That is not a slogan he had made up for him — it is the standard he holds a project to when nobody is watching, which is most of the time.
Away from the job site, Dom is deep in the yoga, health and fitness world, and it is not a separate life from the carpentry. Trade work is hard on a body: kneeling on subfloor, overhead nailing, carrying sheet goods up basement stairs. Mobility and strength training are how he expects to still be doing finish work in twenty years instead of aging out of it. It shows up in the work as patience — the willingness to spend the extra hour on a scribe rather than force something, because he is not fighting his own back to get through the day.
Erika LaRosa
Erika is why the business half of a small carpentry company does not feel like a small carpentry company.
She brings years of experience running businesses — operations, client relationships, scheduling, billing, and the unglamorous systems that decide whether a company is pleasant to hire. Anyone who has waited three weeks for a contractor to return a call knows exactly how rare that is in this trade.
In practice, she is who you hear from first and who you keep hearing from. She takes the initial call, gathers what Dom needs to price the work accurately, gets the written quote to you, books the dates, and keeps you updated while the job runs. Change orders get documented. Invoices match the quote. Nothing important lives only in somebody's memory.
She also protects the part of the business that clients never see: making sure insurance is current, materials land before the crew does, other trades on the job are scheduled around, and Dom's time goes into building rather than chasing paperwork. A carpenter who is free to be a carpenter does better work — that is the whole design of this company.
Outside the business, Erika is active in the yoga, health and wellness world, and that background shapes how she runs things more than you would expect. Teaching and coaching are largely about meeting people where they are, explaining something clearly, and keeping them steady through a process they have not done before. A renovation is a stressful, disruptive, expensive thing to invite into your home — and clients who understand what is happening and why handle it far better than clients left in the dark. That is a communication problem, and it is one she is genuinely good at.
If you have a question about cost, timeline, scheduling, or an invoice, ask Erika. If you have a question about how something will be built, she will get you Dom.
Yoga, health and fitness — and why it shows up in the work.
Dom and Erika are both active in the yoga, health and fitness world. It is not a hobby they keep separate from the business; it is most of the reason the business runs the way it does.
Construction has a reputation for grinding people down. Bodies wear out, corners get cut late in the day, and burnt-out crews do burnt-out work. Treating physical health as part of the job rather than something you get to afterward is what makes a small two-person operation sustainable — and it is why Dom is still doing careful finish carpentry at four in the afternoon rather than rushing to be done.
It changes how they approach your space too. A lot of what people ask us to build is really about how a room makes them feel and function: a basement that becomes a home gym or yoga studio, a mudroom that stops the morning from being chaotic, a deck that actually gets used because it is comfortable. Thinking about how a body moves through a space is not a bad instinct for a carpenter to have.
Wellness at home
- Home gyms — reinforced flooring, rubber over ply, mirror walls, and framing that takes a rack or rig properly.
- Yoga & movement rooms — clean uninterrupted floor, warm light, sound-dampened walls, storage that disappears.
- Basement studios — moisture handled first, ceiling height maximised, mechanicals boxed out cleanly.
- Saunas & cold plunge surrounds — the framing, decking and enclosure work around a unit you have bought.
- Outdoor decks & platforms — flat, solid, quiet places to train or practise outside.
Four things we will not compromise on.
Covered before we start
Fully insured — certificate of insurance available on request before work starts. Ask for it — a contractor who hesitates is telling you something.
Quotes in writing
Scope, materials, and exclusions on paper before a tool comes out of the truck. The final invoice matches it.
